My good friend wanted a custom way to stow some gear in his Toyota FJ Cruiser. He showed up with a Power Tank and a fire extinguisher, and we did some brainstorming over a few beers. We had a few simple goals in mind: a robust structure to hold up to years of abuse on rough roads, using existing mounting points where possible, and keeping things compact so we don’t take up too much interior space. This is what we came up with together, and I built with some 1” square tubing I had on hand, using just my TIG welder, an angle grinder, and some clamps.
